[Mikleo is adamantly denying that he's sick. He's obviously sick, but he refuses to admit that he needs to stay home. Besides, he feels he needs to check in with Mary. After all that's happened...well.]

Hey, Mary? I wanted to see if you were doing alright. This past week has been...an adventure.

[He wasn't worried!]

[ Guess who's not doing too hot? But she's also not a being of light and purity, so she's not collapsed on the floor yet. She has been feeling dizzy whenever she moves suddenly, so she's pausing to bring a hand to her head before she answers him. ]

... My head hurts, and a lot of things happened.

[ A pause, and then-- ]

I'm really sorry I even thought about testing my ability on you, though.

[ IT WAS A THOUGHT. ]

[He looks sympathetic.]

In the state I was in, I probably would've agreed immediately to being tested on. Don't worry about it.

[Mikleo rubs his forehead absently. They're in the same shoddy boat.]

Tell me about it. It's...been an interesting first experience of what Cerealia does on a scheduled basis.

[He hesitates for only half of a second.]

[Mikleo's going to tell Sorey where he's going and make his way over to Mary's place. A little later, there's a knock on her door.]

[ It's a moment before Mary answers it, looking... well, somewhat pale. Nothing too alarming, but it may be obvious that she's not feeling too hot.

BUT THAT'S OKAY, because she's also throwing herself at Mikleo for a much-needed apology hug. ]

[They both don't look great. Perhaps Mikleo will see about checking in on her a little to see how she's feeling for the next few days.

For now, though, he's hugging her back tightly and maybe a little protectively. Seeing Mary hurt like this brings its own kind of pain to the seraph's heart.]

It wasn't your fault, and I know you never would've intended to hurt the people you care about.

I-I know, but it doesn't change the fact that I did hurt them...

[ That's guilt that won't really fade, even as she tightens her arms around him. ]

[Oh, Mary....]

It also doesn't make us care about you any less.

[Mikleo's very gentle as he says this. It hurts to see her like this, but he can't imagine the kind of pain she's in.]

You can let it all out with me, okay? It'll help take some of the pain away.

[ There's a silent nod-- honestly, because if Mary starts unloading everything, she's afraid she'll start crying in earnest and that'll just make her headache worse. ]

[He rubs her back soothingly.]

Hey, why don't we go inside? I'll make you some ice cream. Any flavor you want.

[It's the frozen treat that warms your heart, right?]

Y-yeah... thanks, Mikleo.

[ Spoiling her, gosh! But she'll step back a little to let him in, like a proper hostess. ]

[She deserves to be spoiled a little!!]

[He'll step inside and head straight into the kitchen, getting out all the things he needs to make delicious ice cream.]

[ She'd say sea-salt, but that's a Roxas exclusive... it'd feel weird to eat it without him. But she'll follow Mikleo into the kitchen, leaning a little heavily against the counter to watch him. ]

Strawberry it is.

[Mikleo grabs the strawberries and starts making it. Watch and be amazed as he combines culinary skill with his ice magic! He's even making enough to last Mary a good while.

As he doles the tasty treat out, it's clear he's giving Mary more than he's giving himself. Honestly, she needs it more than he does.]

[The water seraph gives Mary her bowl and puts the rest into the freezer for her.]

... You don't want any more than that?

[ SHE'S STILL KIND OF IN AWE. ]

[Yeaaaaah he's got the skills!]

No, this is plenty for me. Eating has become more of a hobby for me, although for a long time everyone in the village ate because Sorey was human and needed to. Nobody felt it was right that he'd be the only one eating in the whole village. Same with sleeping and other things like that.

... So he really was the only human...

[ She kind of knows how that goes. In reverse. ]

Yeah.

[Mikleo leans against the counter and takes a spoonful of ice cream before continuing.]

I always thought that Sorey might have missed out on some things because he hadn't been around any humans. Things that only a human can teach another human. So...even though it's important and great that I now have a lot of human friends, I think it's been more important that it happened for Sorey.

[He glances at Mary, a little sheepishly maybe.]

Um...you mind not telling him I said that, though?

[ Mary looks up, spoon firmly stuck in her mouth-- and nods.

She's not sure why Mikleo wouldn't want Sorey to know that, unless he's planning on telling him himself, but hey, she'll keep her word. ]
